Use MarginEdge Cards to give your employees a simple, trackable way to make purchases for your restaurant. This article walks you through how to issue cards, activate them, set spending limits, and manage cards over time.

Issue a New MarginEdge Card
You can issue a card to any MarginEdge user who has access to at least one of your restaurant locations.
To issue a card:
- Open the MarginEdge Card Dashboard
- Click Add Card in the top-right corner
- Select the employee you want to issue the card to
- Choose the card’s Home Location
- Transactions will automatically be assigned to this location
- Orders can be moved later if needed
- Go to Orders
- Select the order
- Click More Actions
- Select Move Order
- Set a Daily Spend Limit
- The cardholder cannot spend more than this amount in a single day.
- Choose the shipping address for the card
- Submit the request
Cards typically arrive within 5–8 business days.
Activate a MarginEdge Card
Cards cannot be used until they’re activated by the cardholder.
To activate a card:
- Scan the QR code included in the card packaging or visit app.marginedge.com/cards
- Enter the last four digits of the card number
Once activated, the card is ready to use immediately!
Manage Cards as an Admin
Admins can manage cards anytime from the Cards tab in the MarginEdge Card Dashboard.
Pause a Card
Use this when a card is temporarily unavailable or you want to stop purchases without closing the card.
- Paused cards cannot be used
- Cards can be unpaused anytime
Edit the Daily Spend Limit
Need to increase or decrease spending access?
- Update the limit from the dashboard
- Changes take effect immediately
Reissue a Card
If a card is damaged or no longer works:
- Reissue the same card to the cardholder
- The replacement card will be shipped automatically
Close a Card Permanently
Use this for lost cards or employees who no longer need access.
⚠️ Closing a card is permanent and cannot be undone.
What Cardholders Can Manage Themselves
Cardholders can:
- Reissue their own card if it’s damaged
- Close their own card if it’s lost
Cardholders can only view and manage their own transactions.
Only Admins and Accountants have full access to the MarginEdge Card Dashboard.
