There are various situations where you might encounter a hiccup logging in to MarginEdge.
- If you made too many failed attempts, you will be locked out.
- If you are logging in from a new location, we may prompt you for an additional passcode
- If you cannot receive the 6 digit code required for MFA, or need to change the method of your Multi-factor Authentication
This article covers these situations, password requirements, as well as offers direct links to adding and changing users.
[me] Password Requirements
- Minimum of 8 characters
- Must include lower case, upper case, a number, and special characters (!@#$%^&*)
- Cannot be one of the last 5 passwords you've used before.
- Cannot include any of your personal data (your name, phone number, etc.)
- Cannot include commonly used phrases (i.e. can't include the word "password")
Too many Login attempts
Internally called “Brute Force Protection”, if you try to log in unsuccessfully too many times, we will lock your account to ensure this is not a bad actor trying to make a guess at your password.
When this happens, we will email your account. The quickest solution is to click the link in this email. This validation of your email address will automatically unblock your account and you can now log in.
If for some reason you are not seeing the email, please send an email to help@marginedge.com so we can verify your identity and reset your account.
Logging in from a new Location
You may occasionally be prompted to enter in a 6 digit code. This will likely only happen when you get a new computer, use a new browser or device to login, or travel to an unusual location. Look for an email from "no-reply@marginedge.com" and then copy and paste the six-digit code you see to login. Be sure to use the link to "resend the email" if you don't initially see the email.
If you are now logging in from a trusted location, be sure to check the "Remember this device" box!

Can't get the MFA code
If you are a client who has access to [me] Bill Pay, then you are required to log in using Multi-factor Authentication (MFA). With this, you will need to verify your identity with a 6 digit code sent to your cell phone.
When you initially set this up, you will be provided with a recovery code - don't lose this! If you lose your phone, or need to change how you receive the six digit code, this will be your ticket.
On the screen where it prompts you to enter the code, click "Try another method". Here you can indicate you have the recovery password and can log in using that.
Do you need to change your phone number or change the method of code delivery?
This will require you to reset your MFA. If you are a regular user without access to Bill Pay, then you can go to your User Settings (as explained in these instructions) and turn off MFA then turn it back on. This will prompt you to go through the set up and you can enter a new phone number.
If you have access to Bill Pay, then you will not be able to access your MFA settings and will need to email help@marginedge.com to request an MFA reset.
