You will receive a USB - aka "thumb drive" - in the mail. Be sure you do a data sync before beginning the update, any counts on the scale will be erased during this process!
1. Turn on the scale.
2. If there is any chance you have taken a count and it has not been synced, we suggest doing a Data Sync (from the Main Menu, click on “Data Sync”. Then click on “Cloud Data Transfer”)
2. If prompted, log in as a Manager (Pass Code: 0000).
3. Select 'Settings' on the Main Menu.
4. Select 'Next' on the Settings page.
5. Select 'Update Software'
6. Select 'Yes' to continue.
7. Insert the included USB Drive into either of the two USB ports on the back of the scale (pictured).
- Give the scale a moment to recognize the USB drive.
8. Select 'Find Updates'
- Look at 'Found Firmware' - the version number should be greater than the 'Current Firmware' listed.
- Please note that your firmware versions on the scale will show different numbers than those displayed in the picture below.
- If the scale displays “No USB device found”, wait a minute and try again.
- See troubleshooting notes at the end if the USB Drive is not recognized.
9. TAP 'Update Firmware' to continue. The update should take around 2 minutes to complete.
10. After the update is finished, verify the 'Current Firmware' number matches the ‘Found Firmware’ number.
11. Remove the USB drive from the scale. - DON'T FORGET THIS STEP!!
12. Tap ‘Start Application’ to go back to the main screen.
13. Now, we need to sync back to MarginEdge after the new update. From the main menu, tap ‘Data Sync’ and then ‘Dashboard Data Transfer’
14. Select ‘Yes’ on the confirmation screen. This sync should take around 5 minutes.
Once this step is complete, you should see this screen:
Now that the sync has been performed, we need to make some updates on our side. That means….
15. Please Wait. Our process will take less than 24 hours, and we’ll send you an email as soon as we’re finished to let you know your scale is ready to go.
Once you hear from us…
16. Take your inventory! Your scale is now updated and ready to scan with over 40k NEW barcodes in the library.
Troubleshooting
If the scale will not restart after the update
- Make sure the USB drive was removed from the scale after the update
If the USB drive is not detected in Step 9
- Make sure the USB drive is formatted as Fat32
- (A USB Drive needs to be 32GB or less for the following to work):
- Insert a USB drive into a Windows PC.
- Copy any files from the USB drive that you need to keep as this will delete them all.
- Type and search [File Explorer] in the Windows search bar, then click [Open].
- In the File Explorer window, select [This PC].
- Right-click your USB flash drive, then select [Format].
- Select File system to [FAT32], then select [Start].
- If the USB Drive is not detected when plugged in…
- Shut down the scale and restart without a USB drive or the USB to computer cable plugged in.
Adjust the USB Drive Label if the USB Drive is not detected in Step 9
- Insert a USB drive into a Windows PC.
- Open My Computer
- Right click the USB drive and select properties.
- Under the General Tab, delete the Label name and leave it blank.
- Select OK to Save and retry the update process with the scale.
