What Is the Product Pricing Report?
The Product Pricing Report is a multi-unit report that shows the most recent price each selected location paid for a product.
It’s best for:
- Comparing current product pricing across locations
- Identifying locations paying a different price for the same product
- Checking whether locations are receiving expected vendor or contract pricing
- Spotting pricing discrepancies that may require further investigation
The report is powered by your invoice data. The price displayed for each location reflects its most recent purchase of that product.
How Is This Different from the Purchase Report?
The two reports answer different questions:
- Purchase Report: How much did we purchase or spend during a specific timeframe?
- Product Pricing Report: What is the most recent price each location paid for this product?
Because the Purchase Report is based on a selected timeframe, it is best for analyzing purchasing activity, quantities, total spend, and weighted average cost.
The Product Pricing Report is not tied to a reporting period. Instead, it provides a current comparison based on the latest available purchase price at each location.
Accessing the Report
To access the Product Pricing Report:
- Go to Products > Purchase Report.
- Select the Product Pricing tab.
You will now see two tabs on this page:
- Purchases
- Product Pricing
Filtering the Report
When you first open the Product Pricing Report, you will be prompted to apply filters before data is loaded. This helps the report load more efficiently.
To view pricing, select:
- One or more locations
- A category type or search a specific product
Once you apply your filters, the report will display the matching products and their most recent pricing across the selected locations.
What You’ll See
For each product, the report shows the most recent price paid at each selected location.
This comparison can help you quickly identify locations that may be paying more than expected.
Comparing Pricing Across Locations
Use the report to look for products with different prices across your locations.
A pricing difference may indicate:
- A location is not receiving the expected contract price
- Different locations are purchasing from different vendors
- A vendor recently changed its pricing
- A vendor item is mapped to the wrong product
- The product was purchased using a different unit of measure or package size
A difference does not always mean something is wrong, but it can help you identify where further investigation may be needed.
Pro Tips
Start with a specific category. Filtering to a category type can make it easier to identify meaningful pricing differences without loading unnecessary products.
Search for high-cost or high-volume products. Small pricing differences can have a larger impact on products purchased frequently across many locations.
Confirm package sizes and units of measure. Two prices may appear different because locations are purchasing different package sizes or because vendor items are mapped incorrectly.
Review vendor agreements. Use the report to check whether locations are receiving the pricing expected under your vendor contracts.
Keep product mappings clean. Vendor items must be mapped to the correct products for an accurate location-to-location comparison.
Viewing Older Products
By default, the report only includes products purchased within the past two years. This helps the report load more efficiently and keeps the results focused on products you are actively purchasing.
To include products that have not been purchased within the past two years, turn off the "Only show products purchased" in the past two years toggle.
