In the mobile app you can now modify your count sheet while taking an inventory, giving you the flexibility to:
- Add new items on the fly while taking inventory that aren’t yet on your count sheet
- Remove items you no longer have and don't need on there anymore
- If you use sheet-to-shelf, you can move a product from one section to another during your count
This replicates the “Config Mode” capability available on the web version of MarginEdge.
What You'll Learn
How to use it (step-by-step)
- Open the MarginEdge mobile app and open an inventory.
- Tap the More menu (three-dot icon) in the inventory screen.
- Select Edit Count Sheet from the menu.
- The sheet enters "edit mode” which means you will not be able to record count values.
- Once you exit edit mode, you can resume normal counting (similar to web Config Mode: you edit items but don’t input counts).
- If your count sheet is configured as Sheet to Shelf:
- You can add a section, add an item, assign or move an item to a different section, or delete an item.
- If your count sheet is configured as Auto by Category:
- You can add a new item, and it will automatically be placed in the section (category) based on its category assignment.
- After you complete your edits, save your changes. Resume entering counts as usual.
Notes / considerations
- If you are using Sheet to Shelf, new items may be temporarily placed in a “New Products” section (depending on your setup) until you assign them a proper section.
- If you are using Auto by Category, the system will place new items into the correct category automatically - no manual section assignment necessary.
Troubleshooting / FAQ
Q. Why can’t I enter a count while in Edit Count Sheet mode?
A. In order to keep editing and counting separate (and avoid counts being entered for items that may be removed or shifted), count entry is disabled in edit mode. Once you finish editing and exit edit mode, you can resume entering counts.
Q. I added an item but I don’t see it in the section I expected.
A. If you are using Auto by Category mode, the item will be placed in the category based on its assigned category metadata. If you’re using Sheet to Shelf mode, new items may go into a “New Products” section until you move them manually.
Q. I removed an item but I already entered a count. What happens?
A. If you remove an item that has a count entered, we will not record the count for that item. We recommend making structural edits (add/remove/move items) before entering counts, if possible.
Q. Who can edit the count sheet on mobile?
A. The mobile user will need the appropriate permissions to edit the count sheet/count sheet. See more information about user permissons here: What are the Different User Permissions in MarginEdge?
