Do you need to cancel a payment you have already confirmed? We will try our best to help! Below we've outlined the scenarios and the solutions that may be available to you.
Options for A Check Payment
DELETE
If you see a Check Payment with the status of
- "Scheduled For Tomorrow [or any future date]” or
- “Printing Today” AND it is still before 9 pm EST
then you can delete it in the software. Please note that if it says "Printing Today", this must be done before 9 pm Eastern.
Go to Bill Pay > Payments and select the payment. Then click the red "Delete" button.
DOWNLOAD
If you still want the payment but don't want us to mail it, then during this same time window you can download the eCheck and we will no longer mail the check. If you download the eCheck after the Payment shows as "Sent" and email this to the vendor, then it would be good to alert your vendor that one is still coming in the mail and they will likely end up with duplicate copies of the same check.
STOP PAYMENT
Once it shows the Check Payment as "Sent", then it has been mailed and there is no way for us to stop it. Your best option at this point is to call your bank and put a "Stop Payment" on the check. (Note your bank may charge a fee for this, but it's unrelated to MarginEdge.)
MEEP Payments
For MEEP payments - i.e an ACH or VCC - you can use the Delete button for a payment if the status is
- ”Payment Processing” AND it's before 1pm EST or
- “Scheduled for [date]” and the date is in the future
Go to Bill Pay > Payments and select the payment. Then click the red "Delete" button.
If you have missed this time window, but are still within one business day of the payment processing date, you can email help@marginedge.com to ask if there are any other options for canceling the payment. Sometimes our team can still catch the payment on the back end, but sometimes it is too late.
