Once an admin has set SmartPrep up, this is the part your team touches every shift. Most of it happens on the shared tablet (or any phone with the MarginEdge app), which is the easiest way to complete prep on the line.

Completing a Prep List
On the MarginEdge mobile app, open Complete tasks.
Tap the scheduled prep list you want to work on.
Enter on-hand counts. This works just like inventory — go through and enter how many of each prepared item you currently have. You can also record waste here.
Choose your name under Counted By (the employee your admin set up — or type your name if you're not on the list).
Complete the count. SmartPrep uses your on-hand counts against pars to tell the team how much to prep.
Work through each prep item: view the recipe details, prep the amount shown, and take a photo if the item requires one.
Heads up: "Complete tasks" is where prep lists and checklists live in the mobile app. If you're hunting for your prep list, that's the place to look.
Completing a checklist
From Complete tasks, open the scheduled checklist.
Work through each task and record the response — a checkmark, a temperature reading, or whatever response type the task uses.
Add a photo where the task requires one (e.g. a line-setup photo).
Finish the checklist. Completed checklists move into Reports for your manager to review.
Printing Prep Labels
Once your admin has connected the label printer, printing is quick:
Go to View Recipes, or print directly while completing a prep item.
Select or search for the recipe.
Confirm the expiration date (calculated from the recipe's shelf life).
Select your name and the number of labels.
Tap Print Label.
Dissolvable labels make FIFO and food-safety compliance easy — every container gets prep details and an expiration date without anyone writing on tape.
Reading Reports (managers)
Use reports to confirm standards are being met, coach consistently, and spot operational gaps fast. The more days your team completes, the richer the trends become.
After the work is done, managers get visibility in SmartPrep → Reports, which has three tabs:
